Tua Tagovailoa threw two fourth quarter touchdown passes, the second of which gave the Dolphins the lead with 2:27 remaining, but it was too much time for Matt Ryan.
Ryan led the Falcons on a nine-play, 57-yard drive to set up Younghoe Koo‘s 36-yard field goal as time expired to give Atlanta a 30-28 victory.
Ryan went 25-of-40 for 336 yards with two touchdowns, an interception and a lost fumble as the Falcons rolled to 325 yards.
Rookie tight end Kyle Pitts caught seven passes for 163 yards.
Tagovailoa had an up-and-down day, the same as his career, going 32-of-40 for 291 yards with four touchdowns but two costly interceptions. His picks came after the Dolphins had reached the Atlanta 14 and the Atlanta 32, the latter set up by Xavien Howard‘s interception of Ryan.
Tagovailoa also ran for 29 yards on four carries.
Mike Gesicki caught seven passes for 85 yards and a touchdown.
When I walk into a sports bar in the Philly region wearing my Dolphins jersey with a brown bag over my head, I expect the Eagles fans to buy me beers the whole time I’m there!
Flores on a hot seat
Dolfins are going to have to reconcile themselves to Tua not being a discharge? Qb
It may be the last time this season, but let the record show the Falcons did manage to make it to .500 six games in.
franchise QB. ???????? AUTOCORRECT, I ASSUME
Can Watson play defense in the MIA too?
Unfortunately, I look for Miami to end up 1-16. Grier and Flores need to go ASAP.
Dumb coaching all year…. put a smaller Howard on Pitts instead of 6ft2 bryon Jones who is also more physical for a critical 3rd play under 2nin…you just can’t make up this stuff….
I really believe the players are trying their best. There are a number of good players on this roster to build around in the future.
I am convinced now more than ever that the coaching staff is the biggest problem. How did the Def Coordinator keep his job after the Jax game and then be given another opportunity to prove to everyone how unqualified he is in his job that he couldn’t put together ONE defensive stop in the 4th to save a win?
Grier selected Flores and Flores selected this bunch of under qualified asst. clowns. Grier’s draft picks have been average at best given the stock pile of picks he’s had.
There’s plenty of blame to go around.
Ross had better not wait to the end of the year to clean house. Do something now and get a head start on the HC and GM search.
