Rays at Orioles: Chris Archer on the mound – Tampa Bay Times

Chris Archer takes the mound for the Rays today, saying the hip issue that forced him out of last Sunday’s return from the injured list is behind him.
Manager Kevin Cash said the Rays are hoping so, adding that it would “be ideal” if Archer can work deep into the game but acknowledging they don’t really know what is realistic.
“I don’t know if it’s even fair or right to put an expectation on him,” Cash said Sunday morning. “Let’s see how he goes pitch to pitch, inning to inning. I really have no idea. I mean, the first outing that he came back surprised us that he was able only to go two innings. Hoping for something better than that, but we’ll just see how he feels coming out of his bullpen and then certainly when the game starts.”
The Rays have won six straight to improve their AL-best record to 81-48. They have won 17 of 18 against the Orioles heading into today’s season finale, including the last 11 overall, and all eight at Camden Yards. The Rays are looking for their team-record 13th series sweep and to become the third AL East team in the last 24 seasons to win all of its road games against a division opponent.
